William Rosenberg, the food-franchising pioneer, founded the Dunkin’ Donuts chain. The Open Kettle was its original name and it started in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1948. The name was changed to Dunkin’ Donuts in 1950. It now has over 12,000 worldwide distribution points and sells 2.8 million cups of coffee a day —16% of all coffee sold by the cup in the U.S.)
